Lush Shampoo Bar – a heaven send from the hair gods

by Sameera Ahmed
My hair isn’t the easiest to handle, with its curly/wavy texture and damage from coloring and heat styling, the latter of which isn’t really an option if I want to leave the house.  This problem gets even worse any time I travel, well, anywhere really.  Throw some humidity and hard water into the mix and my mane is a lost cause.

I’ve tried all kinds of products and haven’t had great longterm luck with any of them, until I tried the amazing Godiva Shampoo Bar from Lush.  It was love at first sniff.  Seriously, this little bar has the most heavenly jasmine scent that I can smell every time I walk into the bathroom.

Fall 2011 Nail Polish Trends

images-1

Nail polish is one of the funnest and easiest ways to experiment with seasonal trends without breaking the bank.  There are some amazing nail polish collections out this fall, and here are my favorite trends and releases:

Warm, Earthy Tones

Fall usually brings darker and more subdued tones, like grays, purples, and beiges.  This season, however, we’re seeing really warm and earthy tones that are gorgeous and oh-so-wearable!

This is by far my favorite collection this season.  Inspired by luxe handbags and lady-like glamour, this color collection features shades of khaki, beige, olive, plum and burnt orange that flatter any skin tone!
And, you can find these gorgeous colors at your local drugstore… chic and convenient, or shop here.

Spa Destination: Spa at the Waterway, The Woodlands, Texas

PrintAs we’ve been saying throughout numerous posts on WeareverTheWeather.com, if you feel good, you look good.  And what better way to feel your best than a day at the spa?  So, a month ago, I began a collaboration with two fellow travelistas, Sarah Shah, image consultant and author of the revolutionary book Dress Yourself Skinny, and Stacey Adair, founder of the new online beauty mag Radiant You Magazine.  As the Spa Sirens, we visit with the best spas and resorts to “call out what’s cool and current”.  Last week, we made our first visit to Spa at the Waterway in the Woodlands, a suburb just 40 minutes north of downtown Houston.  And lemme tell you, if you need a quick escape from the everyday in Houston or are visiting and need a cool girls’ day activity, then you have got to check out this full-service salon, barber shop and medical spa! Beauty Tip: Fall 2011 – In a Word, Confidence!

The look this fall is intentionally refined and emits attitude. Plain old pretty is for yesterday, what you want now is a boldness that says you know what comes next. Skin is satiny. lips are bold. Brows are beautiful. Shadows are alluring and seriously sexy.

Beauty tip: Dry to humid weather skin care

Living in Denver, the third driest climate in the U.S., means pretty much anywhere I travel is going to be humid by comparison.  As soon as I step off the plane, my usually thirsty skin turns into an oily, shiny, breakout-prone mess!  After some trial and error, I’ve finally figured out some great tips to keep oil and acne at bay while visiting a humid locale.  Here are my tips!
