I describe Hawaii as surfer style meets Asian pop. Given the diverse background in Hawaii where many of the locals are hapa (meaning mixed) of various ethnic Asian groups, White (haole), and Native Hawaiian one cannot avoid or help but appreciate the beautiful combination of these cultures pervasive in all things from food to fashion.

‘Tis the season for bright colors! Spring: a time of broad ideas, re-growth and renewal. In the fashion world, spring is the height of multi-colored trends and a time to pull out those bright colored tunics, floral prints and denim. The “in” colors this season are soft pinks, mellow greens, reds, pales blues and outspoken orange colored tops. These colors make trends like the romper and knit dresses fresh. Portland style is a unique blend of quirk and charm. Equal parts hippy and hipster, ladies in the Rose City have perfected the skill of crafting one-of-a-kind ensembles that mix and match vintage or thrift items with new, trendy pieces. The vibe here is easy and loose; parkas and rain boots far outnumber suits and heels, and no look is off-limits in a town with the unofficial slogan “Keep Portland Weird.” Read the rest of this entry »

So many of us rock the tank top and comfortable fuzzy sweats look in LA, and why shouldn’t we? LA weather, although beautiful most of the time, can still be unpredictable. On any given day, in any part of LA, the weather can range from chilly to warm and breezy to being an absolute scorcher! The Essential Legging

Audrey Hepburn-Sabrinaby Alexandra Escobar

It all began in 1957, when a certain woman we love, the late Audrey Hepburn, dazzled us with something so chic, so elegant that we thought to ourselves, “Why didn’t we think of that?” The Funny Face gal wore something that now has become a comfortable, fashionable, and important piece to every woman’s wardrobe: the legging. It seems like summer hardly arrives in nor leaves LA, but the fashion gods dictate that fall fashion must make its appearance despite the weather.  Light dresses and rompers (now here to stay?) get new life in the fall with some smart layering under a boyfriend blazer.

Light fabrics like rayon and silk look fresh for fall with a blazer, sleeves rolled up and slightly oversized.  Add booties and a light scarf, and you’ve got a look that can go from lunch to cocktails without a hitch! Read the rest of this entry »

If you are lucky enough to visit Napa Valley in the fall, you are in for a treat (besides the fabulous wine you will no doubt be sampling).  It’s harvest time in September and October, so the smell of sweet grapes coupled with the waning summer heat make this fall getaway a real feast for the senses.  Inspired by the incredible natural surroundings and faded signs of city life, Napa style is akin to its New England counterparts but with a West Coast twist.
