One of the things that I love to do before I visit any city, no matter where it is in the world, is to figure out where I can squeeze in some good shopping. A little prep saves some time and adds to the excitement of my trip. So, in order to help you fabulous Travelistas out there, I am doing the research for you! Each week, we will feature a new interview with a store, designer or stylist in a different city to tell you straight from the experts’ mouths about hot fashion spots and trends where they live.

In this first of our new series, I got to interview Tao Pan of Oat Designs, a designer at the famed Paddington Markets in Paddington, Sydney, Australia. Sydney has become a super popular place to visit most any time of the year, and Paddington has, for more than three decades, been the breeding ground of Sydney’s burgeoning fashion scene.

Designers lucky enough to set up shop here sell their pieces and introduce their lines to locals and visitors alike. But you can also find, as Tao explains to us, a variety of items to quench your shopping thirst and bring something authentically Aussie home with you.
In this interview, Tao tells about:
- What Paddington Markets is all about
- What’s sold there
- The growing fashion scene that starts at the Markets
- His particular line
- Sydney’s style culture
Running time is 7:51 min. Enjoy, and be sure to leave your comments whether you hope to visit, enjoyed the interview or have visited Paddington Markets before!
