So many of us rock the tank top and comfortable fuzzy sweats look in LA, and why shouldn’t we? LA weather, although beautiful most of the time, can still be unpredictable. On any given day, in any part of LA, the weather can range from chilly to warm and breezy to being an absolute scorcher! So although many who live outside of LA think we have no crazy weather patterns to plan for, they’re in for a big surprise.

But rest assured, those of you who know what I’m talking about. I’ve found a secret weapon to combat the sometimes breezy, sometimes humid, uh-oh-watch-out-for-drizzling-skies (in other words) atypical-typical LA weather. Stock up on shirts and dresses that sport the cut-out shoulder look. This fashion statement is sure to be a quick favorite of yours once you see its stylish possibilities.  It’s an underutilized silhouette, and (excuse the pun), just plain cool.

Without getting too detailed about the physical workings of human anatomy, let’s agree a major but embarrassing problem for us women to talk about and deal with is sweat.  Cut-out shoulders are awesome because they provide air flow where it’s needed while helping to keep the rest of the body properly covered and protected at your ideal temperature.  This can, however, vary depending on how you complete your look, i.e. adding a jacket or cardigan or layering a tee underneath.

Besides the practical comfort it can provide, the cut-out shoulder look scores major points for being edgy and fashionable. Dress it up or down, depending on how you complete your look.  Instead of a plain tee, for example, make your t-shirt and jeans look rock a little harder.  Add some panache to your slacks for happy hour with a cut-out shoulder blouse.

The cut-out shoulder look has a plethora of possibilities and can be successfully employed by a wide range of fashionistas–you can be 95 and rock this look if you are confident in your skin and know how to accessorize and layer properly. Crazy weather is no match for the fashion-conscious as long as the cut-out shoulder look is around. Employ this secret weapon and be comfortably cool no matter where you find yourself in LA.
