Fall fashion: Transition with color

by Renae Virata

Fall is in full effect in many places across the US with the first week in October upon us. The best transition going into cooler weather is moving toward more “fall” colors.

It’s always interesting how we immediately want to break out our cool weather layers and wool when the temperatures go down. But the transition between seasons can still bring a wide range of temperatures that call for some lighter fabrication come mid-day (swings between the mid-60s in the morning to lows in the 90s are not uncommon this time of year!).

Color is the easiest way to feel fall fever without having to sweat in warmer hand fabrics like wool and acrylic. Try mauve, tan, and winter white, for example, as a base with punches of other colors. Olive is another hue that is popular this year with the return of military-inspired looks.

We love the fantastic dusty pink of the tee below with the additional tree graphic that is oh-so-fall. For a more professional look, add a simple gray jacket and black pencil skirt. A hot bootie with a touch of suede gives just enough attitude and draws you a little closer in to the season.
