Pantone Color Report

Anyone with a design background or who has had to deal with technical colors in their professional life have come across Pantone, “the world renowned authority on color.” The company, whose innovative standardization of color that is used in a wide variety of industries and throughout the design, manufacturing, retail and consumer process, has a fabulous color report (which you can download for fall) each fashion season.
“Mindful of consumers’ need for practicality, plus their desire for newness, designers offer many options for women to extend and embellish their wardrobes this fall,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, in the official Pantone Fashion Color Report for Fall 2010 . “Building on the color palette from spring, this season’s offerings include innovative takes on fundamental basics, as well as transporting, lively colors that conjure images of travel and adventure, whether real or aspirational.”
Why is color such a big deal when it comes to seasons and, in particular, fashion? Color evokes a certain feeling and creates a certain mood that helps us connect a little more deeply with our changing environment. The cooler weather, the holidays’ being just around the corner, and even the waning sunlight, which affects how we see color, are some examples during the fall season that make us think more muted, deeper, richer colors.
This season has an exciting rainbow of earthy tones that get a kick with brighter shades like the turquoise-based lagoon, endive, and golden glow. It’s a great time to liven up and update your wardrobe. A few pieces here and there is all you need!
